Asthma is a chronic condition where the airways become inflamed and narrow, making it difficult to breathe.

Ventolin (Salbutamol) is a bronchodilator — it relaxes the muscles in the airways, allowing you to breathe more easily.

A spacer helps deliver the inhaled medicine more efficiently to the lungs, reducing wastage and improving symptom control.

Shake the inhaler, exhale fully, then inhale deeply while pressing the canister. Using a spacer ensures correct dosage delivery.

Ventolin is safe for ongoing use when taken as prescribed. If you’re using it frequently, you may need an additional preventer inhaler — speak to your GP.

If you’re using your reliever inhaler more than three times a week, or your symptoms are worsening, contact your GP or asthma nurse.
